What is the Chinn Park Library Renovation?
The Chinn Park Library Renovation is a collaboration between Prince William Public Libraries (PWPL) and the Prince William County Department of Economic Development and Tourism (PWCDEDT), and will introduce new spaces for the greater Prince William community, focusing on resources, support and tools for small businesses and entrepreneurs, and ensuring greater benefits for the public. The renovation marks a significant step in strengthening resources for small businesses and entrepreneurs in the community, while also enhancing the space for the general public to enjoy. With the addition of a new small business resource center and updated spaces, the two departments jointly continue their important roles as resources for learning and innovation.
Main Goals of the Chinn Park Library Renovation
Create new spaces, resources and tools that support small businesses, entrepreneurs and the broader community.
Establish the Calibrate Small Business Resource Center in partnership with the Prince William County Department of Economic Development and Tourism. The center will connect aspiring and established business owners with education, support and resources to help their ideas grow.
Add PWPL’s third makerspace, joining the makerspaces at Bull Run and Central Library. The new space will provide equipment and technology that support business development, creativity and hands-on learning.
Add three small study rooms and a dedicated quiet study room for individual and group work.
Expand and enhance the Chinn Park Library's Management and Government Information Center (MAGIC), a specialized service that supports local business owners and nonprofit organizations.
Success Criteria for the Chinn Park Library Renovation
A renovated Chinn Park Library that better serves residents, students, entrepreneurs, small-business owners and nonprofit organizations.
Expanded access to practical business resources, technology, learning opportunities and collaborative workspaces.
A strengthened partnership between the library and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, helping connect the community to resources for learning, innovation and business growth.
Flexible, modern public spaces that benefit both visitors pursuing business goals and those using the library for everyday learning and recreation.
